Dr. Raskas uses a special microscope when performing a minimally invasive discectomy procedure (microdiscectomy). This allows an accurate, larger view of the damaged portion of a herniated disk which can irritate or compress nearby nerves and cause pain, numbness or weakness. Often, symptoms of a herniated disk radiate pain down your arms or legs.
Dr. Raskas may suggest a discectomy if conservative, nonsurgical treatments haven’t worked or if your symptoms worsen.
