The cervical spine consists of seven vertebral bones on the spinal column located in the neck area. Damage to disc due to trauma or degeneration can cause severe neck pain and may be associated with numbness or weakness radiating from the neck to one or both arms.

Cervical disc replacement is a procedure where damaged or degenerated cervical disc are removed and replaced with an artificial disc device.  Cervical discs are the cushions or shock absorbers between the bone vertebrae of the cervical spine.
